Bumbu Original rum is made at a historic Barbadian distillery, established in 1893 and in continuous operation for more than 120 years.
It is known for using carefully selected Caribbean sugar cane molasses instead of regular molasses, which contributes to the unique taste of their products. The production process for Bumbu the Original begins with the selection of the finest Caribbean sugar cane molasses, which after fermentation is distilled in traditional Caribbean column stills. After distillation, different distillates are blended to achieve the desired flavor profile. One of the most striking aspects of Bumbu Spiced Rum is the addition of natural herbs and spices to the distillate. Think of vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg.
The exceptionally pure water used from Barbados, combined with carefully selected sugar cane from the Caribbean and South America, gives the lightness and smoothness that is central to the rum. Bumbu Rum offers several varieties, some of which undergo additional maturation in oak barrels. This barrel maturation adds complexity and depth of flavor. After maturation, the rum is filtered to remove any impurities and then bottled for distribution.
