What characterizes your role at work?
What characterize my role is that I train the new employees. The first few weeks that they work for us, I guide them. With my enthusiasm, I often ignite others. In addition, I always try to figure out everything myself first, for example using the system or arranging things with the warehouse, customs etc. I don’t ask others before I’ve figured it out for myself. It’s also easier to explain things when you’ve tried them yourself first.
What do you consider a challenge at work?
Training new colleagues. I find that super fun to do but it can be quite challenging. I also enjoy customer contact. It is nice to speak with and help customers all over the world. Of course, sometimes it can be challenging, but I always strive to help the customer as good as possible.
Name one thing you are sure most people didn’t know about you
I am an open book, I can’t think of anything really.
What do you contribute to the team?
I am a real team player. I can work with anyone, but also talk well on a personal level. What I would like is to be someone who stands in the middle of the team. To get everyone excited for the best possible outcome.
How do you relax on the weekend?
In addition to my work at Moving, I have been a fanatic basketball coach for over 10 years. When I talk about relaxation it is about coaching the basketball team. Coaching itself is not always a relaxation, but I enjoy it so much.
Relaxation in the sense of taking rest means getting things done around the house, doing the laundry, grocery shopping, and of course lying on the couch and watching sports. That doesn’t necessarily have to be basketball, can be any sport.
What is the most important thing you have learned from home?
That you shouldn’t depend on other people. My mother told me from a young age that I should iron my own clothes, for example. You have to keep your own room clean.
Beer, wine or spirits?
Nowadays nothing at all, but in the past, I would rather choose beer or spirits. Beer is easy and something stronger is also possible but then it is often a liqueur or rum. If I had to choose one of the three then I choose beer.
Which country would you like to visit and why?
Pfoe, there’s several countries that I would like to visit. I would love to do a road trip through South America. As an example, I pick Chile, from North to South you have three different seasons. In the South you encounter penguins and I think in the middle there are more cities and in the North, you have a landscape full of mountains. I love that variety.
What’s on your bucket list?
I want to do skeleton someday. That seems really cool to me, going head first 130 km/h down a track with a sled. I was selected to do that once, but I didn’t do it and I still regret it.
I would also like to race in a formula car, not necessarily a F1-car but can also a be a formula 3 or 3000 car. You do have to do it with full surrender and control.
What did you want to become when you were younger?
I always wanted to become a pilot. When I was 9 years old, I went on a plane for the first time, to Portugal. Then I knew this is what I want to do as a profession. Of course, I got pretty far, I did the flight training course, but I never flew at an airliner. I am at peace with that now.
